Wine and Spirits from Austria
Discover the delights from our wine store
There are many ways to find out about Austria. One of the most enjoyable is definitely a trip through the vineyards. It's possible to learn so much about the region and its special features by enjoying a glass of wine:
Taste the ground upon which the vines are grown, the many hours of sunshine, the special location, the slopes. The colour of the wine also speaks volumes - as do the names and the labels.
Take a journey through the best Austrian wine regions such as Wachau, Lake Neusiedl or Kamptal with our excellent, selected wines such as the Gruner Veltliner, Zweigelt or Muscatel. Or if you fancy it, take a look at a Merlot in Bordeaux, take an escape with a Syrah/Shiraz in the Rhone valley, with a Chianti DOCG in Tuscany or with the Kröver Nacktarsch on the Mosel ...
Sparkling like an emerald?
"Emerald wines" are for example, white wines of the highest Wachau quality, whether Riesling, Federspiel or Chardonnay. They are grown on the steep, stone terraces overlooking the Danube and just like the Emerald lizard which these wines get their name from, they particularly love the sunshine here ...
We are more than happy to advise you on your wine trip through Austria and the world of Saalbach-Hinterglemm. There are many places to do it too: in the armchairs in front of a crackling fireplace, relaxing in our bar, on the terrace in front of the hotel in the garden oasis, and of course in your room or suite – or enjoy your wine in accompaniment with your Alpen-Karawanserai evening meal ...

Pinzgau Apple Kisses Indian Cinnamon - and who will you kiss?
Once upon a time there was an apple from Pinzgau. It was hanging from a beautiful apple tree and it loved the views from its treetop position. It loved to watch the beautiful, majestic mountains, the gently sloping valleys and the lively, bubbling Salzach river.
One day, two hikers were taking a rest under the shade of the apple tree and were chatting about their trip to India. They were raving about the colours, the smells and the spices - and in particular about the Indian cinnamon trees. As the apple was listening, a feeling of wanderlust began to spread under its skin. It must be paradise in India, it thought. And all the while it had believed that Pinzgau must be the most beautiful place in the world.
How happy the apple then was when it unexpectedly met some Indian cinnamon in the Enn schnapps distillery. Oh, what a beguiling
smell! The apple was completely enraptured. But, surprise surprise! The Indian cinnamon had the same enraptured feelings. Its tree had once looked down on those same hikers and had heard them praising the beauty of Pinzgau and in particular, its delicious aromatic apples.
The apple and the cinnamon hugged and kissed, drunk with happiness. And they united to form a unique blend: the precious "Pinzgau Apple Kisses Indian Cinnamom" liqueur. At the Alpen-Karawanserai you can try out and taste this unique blend of local and exotic – and also take away a bottle for home or as a gift. Further varieties of the exclusive Alpen-Karawanserai edition are the "Persian Nut" and the "Oriental Genie in a Bottle".
